PASADENA, Calif. — The 12th-ranked Oregon Ducks shook off last week’s embarrassing loss at home to Arizona and avoided losing back-to-back game for the first time since 2007 by going down to the Rose Bowl and easily defeating the 18th-ranked UCLA Bruins 42-30.
Marcus Mariota got the Ducks on the board first with a 13-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, capped off by a succesful two-point conversion run by former Sheldon quarterback Taylor Alie that put Oregon up 8-0. Mariota threw touchdown passes to Thomas Tyner & Pharaoh Brown in the second quarterback to go up 21-3. Royce Freeman added two touchdown runs of his own in the second half.
Mariota was 17/27 for 210 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 75 yards and another two touchdowns, the tenth time in his Oregon career he has scored four or more touchdowns. The Heisman Trophy contender also surpassed 100 touchdowns for his career.
Oregon returns to action next Saturday at Autzen Stadium when they host bitter rival Washington at 5:00 p.m.
